Dukes is enviably located on Great Pulteney Street, one of the city’s most prestigious addresses. This grand boulevard is steeped in history and counts novelist Jane Austen and anti-slavery activist William Wilberforce among its most famous past residents. Great Pulteney Street was commissioned by Sir William Pulteney and was completed at the end of the 18th century. Dukes comprises two magnificent townhouses, No. 53 and No. 54, which have served as domestic homes, long-term lodgings and a school. In 1919 the two properties were first combined into a private hotel, St Monica’s. In 1985 the name was changed to Dukes Hotel, in honour of His Grace the Duke of Clevedon.

Dog Friendly
We roll out the red carpet (or should we say, red leash?) for our furry friends! Your pooch is welcome in all of our rooms (excluding our cosy doubles), but for those who need extra space, consider a larger room.
We’ll give your companion a lovely dog bed, water bowl and a Woof Box full of snacks & treats. We charge an extra £35 per dog per night. This needs to be arranged in advance with reception.
Please kindly note that dogs are not permitted in the breakfast room, but breakfast may be enjoyed as room service, in the bar or in the courtyard, weather permitting. We also kindly ask dogs to remain off the furniture and not to be left unattended in be bedrooms.
Family Friendly
We offer a range of family-friendly rooms, including some of our Superior King rooms, as well as Deluxe and Four-Poster Suites. Our Deluxe Suites can accommodate extra beds, while our Four-Poster Suites also offer extra beds but do not include sofa beds. Travel cots are available in Superior King rooms and above.
Children under 3 stay for free. If you require a cot, a one-off charge of £15 will apply.
Extra beds or sofa beds are available at £35 per person, per night, including breakfast (for ages 2 – 14+).
