Visit Bath and Enjoy the Bath Board Game Café
24 November 2019

If you’re a fan of board games why not unwind after a busy day of exploring Bath with a refreshing drink and a good board game? You could have a nice glass of wine and play a classic game by our roaring fire here at Dukes hotel. You could also visit Thirsty Meeples – the Bath board game café.

Thirsty Meeples is a new addition to Bath. Close to Bath city centre, on Gay Street by the Jane Austen Centre, Bath’s Thirsty Meeples officially opened its doors just a few weeks ago on November 2nd. It’s filled with both the latest games and timeless favourites (the likes of “Settlers of Catan” and “Munchkin” are well represented!). You book your slot online, pay a cover charge and then you’re free to play as many games as you like. The hard part is knowing which game to select as there is a huge range to choose from. Over 800 games in fact!

Happily, Thirsty Meeples have thought of this. As well as organising the games by genre, within the board game café are Game Gurus who can help you find the perfect game based on experience level, number of players, playing time, and what other games you enjoy. Perhaps best of all, they can help to explain the rules (reading the rule books being the less fun part of board games!).

When it comes to refreshments, Bath’s board game café is well supplied. Their menu includes hot and cold snacks – every day the cakes and bakes are locally sourced, and there is an impressive array of teas, coffees, shakes, chais, and smoothies. An added bonus is that the café is also a licensed bar. The drinks menu includes craft beers, delicious ciders, and a selection of cocktails and wines.

The opening hours of Bath’s new board game café is 11am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday. The cover charge price is £7.50 per person for three hours if you just want to play games, and £6 per person for three hours if you’ll also be ordering food or drinks.
