How to Celebrate New Year’s 2020 in Bath
15 December 2019
We know that Christmas hasn’t happened yet, but if you, like us, like to plan to be celebrating New Year’s 2020 in Bath then you’ll probably be looking to see what will be happening ahead of the big day.
As such, these are our top recommendations for how to celebrate New Year’s 2020 in Bath in style.
Visit an amazing restaurant
Browns is a restaurant with delicious culinary creations on offer all year round, but they’ve really pushed the boat out when it comes to their New Year’s Eve five course menu.
You can pick your favourites from a selection of the very finest dishes; including pan-seared scallops with smoked pancetta, duo of venison, and white chocolate snowball mousse.
A classic Bellini is also included in the price of the meal (£55 for the five courses), while Champagne and cocktails will be keeping the atmosphere sparkling all night.
Attend a concert
In Vienna it’s a well-established tradition (dating back to 1838!) that on each New Year’s day the Vienna Philharmonic performs a music concert featuring the very best classical pieces of music. It’s a tradition that has spread to other cities around the world, with some concerts being shown live in cinemas.
This year Bath’s charming Little Theatre cinema will be showing a New Year’s Eve concert from the Berlin Philharmonikier on its big screen at four o’clock on December 31st. The concert will feature pieces from George Gerschwin’s ‘An American In Paris’, and works by Cole Porter, Carl Loewe and Kurt Weill. A great way to get into the celebratory spirit for both classical music and jazz fans alike!
Dance the night away
Back again for a New Year’s Eve party to beat all other New Year’s Eve parties is Motorcity Gold at Bath Komedia. The night promises “glitz, glamour and plenty of surprises” and Motorcity Gold will have a professional photographer throughout the night to record the passing of 2019 and the coming of 2020. The artists playing will be a mix of classics including the likes of Diana Ross, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Elvis, and Stevie Wonder.
Doors open at 10:30pm, with last entry at midnight, and the party goes on until 3am. This is a popular night that sells out year on year so it’s worth getting your ticket (£15) in advance.
From all of us here at Dukes, we hope to see you in Bath soon, and perhaps even for New Year 2020 itself!
