Visiting Bath for Valentine’s Day
5 February 2020

Bath is such a romantic city. With its grand architecture, hidden backstreets, and rich cultural past, it would be hard for it not to be!

If you’re lucky enough to be coming to Bath for Valentine’s Day, or even better, for the Valentine’s Day weekend, then these are some of our top recommendations for places to go and things to do.

Where to go for drinks and tapas

Tucked away in Milsom Place is Le Vignoble – a charming wine bar with a selection of wines to impress any connoisseur. On February 14th they are holding a special event for couples. For £50 per booked couple you can enjoy a large sharing platter containing authentic French cheeses, artisan saucisson from the Alps, fresh marinated olives, Corsican hams, and plenty more besides (as well as a whole bottle of Domaine de Landreau Cremant de Loire Morin Brut Rosé.

Another of our favourite places, The Ivy Brasserie, will have their usual excellent menu and romantic setting, but also new cocktails and a Valentine’s dessert to try (on offer from the 13th – 16th February). They’re perhaps a good choice for the day after Valentine’s Day?

What to do

If you’ve ever fancied recreating that scene from the film Ghost, an upcoming event at the Holburne Museum may be for you.

On February 15th from 10:30am- 4:30pm, award-winning artist Jo Taylor will be hosting a ceramics one-day workshop. Each attendee will create their own unique pot from elegant blue and white clay using coiling and sprigging techniques. The workshop will also include a visit to the galleries to get inspiration from the Wedgwood and Grayson Perry pieces on display. Tickets are £60, and the finished pots will be ready for collection four weeks after the workshop (a perfect excuse for a return trip to Bath!).

What to watch

On Valentine’s Day itself, Komedia will have a Krater Comedy Club Valentine’s Day Special, with doors open from 6:30pm. Some of the best performers in live comedy will be on stage, and the Valentine Meal Deal Plus Tickets mean that you can enjoy dinner and a show in a prime spot in the auditorium for £75 per couple. Afterwards the tickets give you a queue-jump entry to the FAME club night at Komedia straight after the show. So you also get a night of dancing thrown in!

Then, if you’re looking for classic romance and a rest from sight-seeing around the beautiful city of Bath, on Sunday 16thwe can recommend a trip to Bath’s vintage-style Little Theatre cinema. At 1pm, as part of their Vintage Sundays series, they will be screening the classic romance, Casablanca.

Whatever you do in Bath this Valentine’s Day, we’re sure you’ll have a truly wonderful time!
